Enugu is polio free – WHO

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared Enugu State ‎polio-free.Tthis was made known by the country representative, Dr. Wondimagegnehu Alemu, he commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for nurturing and sustaining the health programmes in the state‎. Alemu made the assertion at the Enugu State zonal immunization campaign tour organized recently by the wife of the governor, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi, in collaboration with the organization in Nsukka, Udi and Nkwo Nike respectively.

Reps urges FG on ending slavery of Nigerians in Libya

The House of Representatives on Wednesday charged the federal government to end the slavery, torture and killing of Nigerians by liaising with the Libyan government to find a solution to the menace of migration and modern day slavery. PDP national chair : Wike not lobbying for Secondus, says party

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has dismissed the allegation in some quarters, that Governor Nyesom Wike  has been lobbying for Prince Uche Secondus, to emerge as national chairman of the party. Buhari suffers memory loss, speech difficulties in London

President Muhammad Buhari, who left Nigeria 45 days ago to resume treatment for an undisclosed medical condition believed to be cancer, has developed speech difficulties, according to a Sahara Reporters breaking news, quoting Presidency sources. “Previously, Mr. Buhari was also said to be suffering memory lapses. The latest revelation stems from recent attempts to return the President to Nigeria by members of a cabal managing his health and using it to deceive Nigerians,” the report said.

General Overseer of the INRI Evangelical and Spiritual Church, Primate Ayodele Elijah pictured above, in his second quarter prophesy, has said President Muhammadu Buhari would resign. He said some Governors will gang up against Buhari as he would also face serious political challenges. Russia moves to label Jehovah's Witnesses as 'extremist organization'

The Russian justice ministry has moved to label Jehovah's Witnesses an 'extremist organization' following years of government suspicion toward the group. The lawsuit filed with the Russia’s Supreme Court against the national headquarters of the country's Jehovah’s Witnesses wasn't dated and has not yet been scheduled for legal action, USA Today reported. In response to the filing, the press office for the Russian branch of the religion released a statement Thursday saying it would represent 'dire consequences' for religious freedom in Russia if approved. Reno Omokri, other Nigerians react to El-Rufai's controversial memo to President Buhari

In September 2016, Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai wrote a controversial memo to President Buhari, criticizing his style of administration. The memo surfaced online yesterday. El-Rufai in the memo drew President Buhari's attention to the fact that his government has not provided the mundane benefits of governance to Nigerians.  He also referred to President Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abbah Kyari, as a clueless official who has no knowledge of his office. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state in September last year, sent a 30-page explosive memo to President Buhari. In the Memo which was recently leaked to Sahara Reporters and shared online, El-Rufai bluntly told President Buhari that his government has failed in delivering the mundane things any government is expected to deliver to its electorates. Aero Contractors sacks 900 of its workers

Nigerian airline company, Aero Contractors Nigeria Limited, has sacked 900 of its workers. According to a statement by the airlines media consultant, Simon Tumba, the airline which shut down temporarily in October last year but reopened in December, has about 1500 staff members on its payroll. Tumba said the airline has been grappling with paying the salaries of these workers as well as servicing its overhead cost. He says this is not sustainable for the airline.

French govt issues terror attack warning after armed student opened fire at high school injuring eight people

A 17-year-old student has been arrested after a gunman opened fire at a school in the small southern French town of Grasse, Alexis de Tocqueville, injuring at least eight people including the headmaster.  The teenager armed with a rifle, two handguns and two grenades has been arrested and a second is possibly being sought.

Court remands former NNPC boss, Andrew Yakubu, in Kuje prison

The Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded Former Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu in Kuje prison pending the hearing of his bail application on March 21st. The former NNPC boss is being investigated for corruption after $9.6 million and £72,000 was found inside a fireproof safe at his home in Kaduna state on February 10th.

Court Berates NAFDAC, Warns Consumers Not To Take Fanta, Sprite With Vitamin C

A Lagos High Court, Igbosere, Lagos State, south west Nigeria has ordered the National Agency For Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to forthwith mandate Nigeria Bottling Company PLC, manufacturers of Fanta and Sprite soft drinks, to include a written warning that the content of the bottles cannot be taken with Vitamin C. In a judgment delivered by Justice Adedayo Oyebanji, the court warned that taking Fanta and Sprite with Vitamin C is poisonous.

FG won’t allow helicopters transport passengers from Kaduna to FCT

The Federal Government will not permit commercial helicopter flights to operate between Kaduna and Abuja, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno has said. Flights to Abuja are being diverted to Kaduna due to the closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on March 8. The closure led some companies to begin advertising commercial helicopter flights for people who don’t want to join the government’s buses.

President Muhammadu Buhari has, Monday the 13th of March, 2017 resumed office at the Aso Rock, Presidential Villa after almost 50 days medical leave in London. Audu Maikori was rushed to Police medical facility for respiratory infection last night

The current travails of Chocolate City President, Audu Maikori continued last night in detention. Audu is currently locked up in a cell in Kaduna State and last night he had problems breathing and was immediately rushed to the Police Medical Center last night. Sources confirm to LIB that he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection but he's getting better now as he awaits his arraignment in court today. Two days before his re-arrest, Audu fainted at an event in Lagos and was rushed to St Nicholas hospital where he was treated and observed for 24-hours.
